This week while putting together a business plan, mapping out the vision, values, goals and activities for 2021 with my clients, we came up with some non-negotiables.
These are guiding principles instilled in the business to raise the standards and provide consistency from an internal and external perspective.
Values are the driving forces for setting the Culture in the company. Consistent implementation is what creates the Culture.
Below is an illustration of a value being associated with an activity.
𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞 – Communication
𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞 – Written and verbal communication must occur within a timely manner to both internal and external parties.
𝐆𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐞 / 𝐍𝐨𝐧-𝐧𝐞𝐠𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞
• Return calls within 24 hours
• Send out a quote or proposal to the potential client within 24 hours of communicating with them.
Many guiding principles will come from just one Value. These can then form part of your standard operating procedures. They remove any hesitation or second-guessing how activities in the business should be addressed.
